Processing Process of Impact Resistant HIPS Plastic Rolls

1. Raw Material Preparation

High quality HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) resin is selected and may be mixed with color masterbatch, processing aids, or recycled materials according to customer requirements.

2. Drying

The HIPS resin is dried at a controlled temperature (typically around 80–100°C) to remove moisture and ensure stable extrusion performance.

3. Extrusion

The dried resin is fed into a single-screw or twin-screw extruder.

The material is heated and melted as it moves through the barrel.

Temperatures are carefully controlled in multiple zones (e.g., 160–230°C) to ensure homogeneous melt.

4. Sheet Formation (Flat Die Extrusion)

The molten HIPS is pushed through a T-die to form a flat sheet.

Die gap is precisely adjusted to control sheet thickness to 0.4mm.

5.Calendering & Cooling

The hot sheet passes through a set of chill rolls (calender rolls), which:

• Smooth the surface
• Control the thickness
• Rapidly cool the sheet to maintain dimensional stability

6.Edge Trimming

Side edges are trimmed to ensure consistent width and improve roll appearance.

Trimmings can be collected and recycled into the production process.

7.Surface Treatment (Optional)

Corona treatment or anti-static treatment may be applied to enhance printability or other surface properties.

8.Winding

The finished sheet is wound into rolls with controlled tension and alignment.

Rolls are inspected for defects such as bubbles, thickness inconsistency, or contamination.

9.Cutting and Packaging

Rolls are cut to desired widths if needed.

Each roll is labeled, wrapped in protective film, and packed for storage or shipment.

10.Quality Inspection

Thickness, surface quality, color, impact resistance, and other parameters are tested to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
